The Tradewater International Honduras 1.0 project destroyed CFC-12, a refrigerant and ozone-depleting substance (ODS) privately stored in Honduras. While legally imported to Honduras in 2004, the refrigerant, which is also a potent greenhouse gas, was never sold and remained in storage. Had it not been destroyed, it would have leaked into the atmosphere over time. The ODS was transported from Honduras to a destruction facility in Saint-Vulbas, France, where the canisters of gas were destroyed.
